Just hours after the call that Team Delta Lloyd that they are not doing the leg 5 of the Volvo Ocean Race, Green Dragon skipper Ian Walker got in contact with Wouter to 

do leg 5 with them.

Explains Wouter: "Green dragon navigator Ian Moore is unexpectedly unable to do the next leg. Ian Walker approached me to see if I can  help them out. Of course I am very keen to sail leg  5, but I had to call team delta Lloyd  team manager Tom Touber first  as my commitment lies with them. "

Tom was quick to decide to help the Green Dragon team out and have  Wouter "on loan" for a leg on the condition that he would return to  Team Delta Lloyd from Rio.

"Leg 5 is the Big One. Really it is a crazy leg; 12000 NM, 37 days, starting in the Siberian cold of China, crossing the whole of the Pacific to New Zealand before doing the two week Southern Ocean marathon to Cape Horn. It is nuts!"
